A fire has damaged a Korean-owned electronics factory in the Lamphun Industrial Estate yesterday, Feb. 24.
The estate, also known as the “Northern Industrial Estate” is located in Bang Klang , Mueang Lamphun.
The fire broke out in a restaurant behind the factory, owned by KEC (Thailand) Company Limited, before spreading into the factory itself around 5 p.m.
Around 20 fire engines were called to the scene along with support personnel. The fire took 40 minutes to be extinguished.
The restaurant is described as having been destroyed while some factory buildings were damaged.
There was some concern that some of the factory buildings may have been storing chemicals.
According to its website, KEC manufactures electronics for home appliances, audio video and automotive products.
