Fire damages shoe shop, restaurants in Nong Pa Khrang

Two restaurants and a shoe store in Nong Pa Khrang were damaged after a fire broke last night, Dec. 17. in Nong Pa Khrang.

The fire broke out in the shoe store in a strip of shops and restaurants on Chiang Mai Business Park Soi 1 near the back of Payap University at around 8:30 a.m.

According to witnesses including restaurant workers, the fire broke out at the rear of the “Mae Hakhub” shoe shop before spreading to the neighboring Thapae Tom Yum Noodle restaurant and Tom Tiew Rua Yok Sot restaurant.

Emergency services were quick to the scene with the fire taking around one hour to extinguish.

The cause of the fire is unknown with police investigating. Given photos from the scene the buildings themselves seem fairly structurally sound however the fire damage itself was fairly extensive.
