A fire caused severe damage to a home in Hua Fai in Chang Klan early this morning, Dec. 31.
The fire broke out at around 5 a.m. with Chiang Mai Municipality Fire Fighters and well as staff from the Chiang Mai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office attending the scene.
The fire itself took around 15 minutes to bring under control, destroying much of the second story of the home while the ground floor was damaged but not destroyed.
Neighbors heard a loud bang from the house described as being “like an explosive” prior to the fire itself breaking out. The homeowner was staying with friends and was not at home at the time the fire broke out.
A short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire.
