Chinese tourists in their hundreds are reported to be lining up and applying for visa extensions at Chiang Mai Immigration as the Wuhan coronaravirus continues to spread in mainland China.
Amarin News reports that around 200-300 Chinese nationals are applying for visa extensions daily as they seek to avoid having to return home.
Chiang Mai Immigration opened a Chinese aid center to assist Chinese nationals who are stuck in Chiang Mai due to the Wuhan coronavirus Feb. 1.
Of note, the report adds that 50 people from Wuhan, at the center of the virus outbreak, were refused an extension and deported back to China.
