Police raided and shut down an illegal online gambling operation in Chiang Rai yesterday, April 4.
The illicit gambling operation was being run from a house in Moo 3 Ban Du, Mueang Chiang Rai.
The raid, led by local police and members of the Information Technology Division, Provincial Police Region 5 found two people “changing football odds on a website and updating customer accounts.”
Two computers, one mobile phone, a bank account and a number of ATM cards were also seized.
The men were charged with running an illegal gambling operation, or more specifically “arrange for play or advertising or solicit directly or indirectly illegal gambling” and “allowing others to play or gamble in a way that is not authorized by an official.”
