Crime Suppression Division (CSD) police arrested a man in Bangkok yesterday on suspicion of raping more than 30 university students.
The 26-year-old suspect, identified only as Ratchapon, was arrested in a department store car park in the Ram Intra area of Kannayao district.
Pol Maj Gen Jirabhop Bhuridej, deputy commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, reportedly led a team to make the arrest.
Ratchapon was wanted on a Criminal Court warrant issued on Monday for several offences including rape, threatening to cause harm, depriving others of their freedom and theft.
During questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted liking to watch pornography and secretly filming upskirt images of women.
Police said they also discovered what they believe were 36 video clips of assaults on 32 women and 86 upskirt clips in folders stored on his electronic notebook. Some of the clips have also been disseminated online, police said.
Many of the victims were female university students he found on dating websites.
He would chat with them online before inviting them to visit his room, police said, adding he would even cover their travel expenses. In his room, he would demand to have sex with them and threaten to post their chat history and revealing photos on social media.
