A man was arrested by police early this morning, Feb. 14 after he snatched an iPhone from a farang tourist in Si Phum yesterday evening, Feb. 13.
The snatch and grab involved the accused snatching an iPhone XR from the female farang tourist on Ratchawithi Road Soi 2 while riding a motorcycle.
After the victim informed police, CCTV was used to trace the accused man, Mr. Nueng Chaeng Kong to the Mae Kha canal in Haiya where he was seen throwing the phone into the canal itself in an attempt to dispose of the evidence.
Along with arresting the man in the area, divers were also deployed to the canal to retrieve the phone.
He charged with theft of property using a vehicle to facilitate the commission of an offense as well as the use of Category 1 narcotics.
