A man with a gun who attempted to carjack a vehicle at the Nong Thom Intersection in San Sai yesterday Sept. 3 has been arrested but is claiming that he was drunk and meant no harm.
Video of the incident originally posted on Facebook showed a man around 20 to 30 years of age wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and shorts walk to a vehicle stopped at a red light then attempt to gain access.
Fortunately, the vehicle was able to escape without an actual carjacking taking place.
The arrested man was not named by Mae Jo Police Station. After claiming that he was drunk and meant no harm, the man asked for forgiveness and in true Thai style epically wai-ed his victims. It a twist, according to one report he also claimed that he had been at a party in San Sai and had confused the victim’s car for his own.
No amount of wai’s will save the man, however, with initial charges including carrying an unauthorized firearm in public and causing fear or intimidation to others. Further charges may be forthcoming.
