A 60-year-old man has been arrested by police in Lampang after he was discovered electric fishing – using an electrical current to kill fish in a water source.
Mr. Charoen Kram from Moo 8 Rong Khun, Wang Nuea district was caught in the act along the Wang River, a tributary of the Ping River, with a car battery, a current transformer, power cables and half a kilogram of unspecified fish.
The arrest comes after the death of another Lampang man electric fishing July 7. In that case, the Darwin Awards nominee had tapped into a power line before managing to electrocute himself.
Mr. Kram was detained in custody pending a court hearing.
