A 52-year-old man was arrested by police in Kalayaniwattana yesterday, March 18 in relation to the murder of a former village headman March 15.
The murder of Mr. Sittichai Santichaichan, the former villager headman in Ban Chan took place at around 4 p.m. Sunday in Moo 4 Ban Chan.
A joint investigation between Kalayaniwattana Police and Chiang Mai Provincial Police saw the arrest of Mr. Chatchai Pornprateepkul, also of Moo 4 Ban Chan.
Police found a shotgun at his residence along with dried marijuana plants. Mr. Pornprateepkul was charged with killing others deliberately, possessing firearms illegally and possession of illegal drugs.
The motivation for the murder is still not clear but with drugs involved, it wouldn’t be hard to guess.
Mr. Pornprateepkul was detained in custody pending a court hearing.
