Man drowns after being flung into Canal Road khlong after crashing ‘big bike’

A 30-year-old man has drowned after crashing his “big bike” and being flung into a khlong early this morning, Dec. 16.

The accident occurred on Canal Road (Highway 121) opposite the Bang Khwang Cafe at around 2:30 a.m.

The deceased, Mr. Natthaphon Satangpang from Nong Khwai, Hang Dong had been seen riding his Kawasaki Z900 motorcycle without a license plate at high speed prior to the crash. He appears to have struck high concrete barrier at a speed being being flung into the khlong itself.

Rescuers took two hours to find the body as it had been washed 500 meters further down the khlong from where the accident occurred.

The body was taken to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital for an autopsy before being handed over to family members for funeral rites.
