A man has died after he crashed his pickup truck into a khlong and drowned in Mae Taeng early this morning, Aug. 20.
The accident took place in Moo 7 Khilek at around 1:30 a.m.
There were no witnesses to the accident with locals only aware of it after hearing the vehicle crash and then coming out to investigate.
The body of Mr. Sompong Chomngam, 53 also from Khilek was found drowned in the vehicle. Access to the vehicle and body could only be obtained once water in the khlong was reduced.
Police speculate that Mr. Chomngam may have fallen asleep behind the wheel, losing control of the pickup truck and ending up in the khlong in the process.
