Man found murdered in abandoned Wat Ket building

The body of a murdered man was found in an abandoned building in Wat Ket this morning, Oct. 8.

The deceased man, Mr. Paiboon Pholkote, 65 from Loei died from multiple stab wounds to his face and body.

Mr. Pholkote, an antique dealer who was living in the abandoned building was last seen by nearby residents departing with an acquaintance to go drinking yesterday, Oct. 7 before later returning. The body was only found after locals became concerned that they hadn’t seen him this morning, Mr. Pholkote regularly being up early to run errands.

Police found 8,000 baht and a mobile phone with the body suggesting that the motivation was not robbery versus being personal.

Police believe that the murderer is likely someone Mr. Pholkote knew with the murder likely due to a personal dispute. An investigation has been launched including police studying CCTV footage.
