The body of a man was found shot dead in a forest in Chiang Rai Dec. 3 in what may have been another case of an accidental shooting.
The body was found in forest near Baan Mai Suksan in Tat Khwan, Phaya Mengrai District by locals.
Mr. Pornchai Sae Ma, 30 was found with several wounds consistent with being shot. It’s believed that his body was there for around 4-5 days before being found.
Relatives said the deceased had left home Nov. 28 to go hunting but never returned. Hiking equipment, a knife, a shotgun and four bullets consistent with somebody who was hunting was found with the body.
Police believe that he may have been accidentally shot by another hunter or group of people who may have thought he was a wild animal given the density of forest in the area.
An investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
