Myanmar man arrested after attempting to sell fake gold at Chang Moi shop

A Myanmar man has been arrested after he attempted to sell fake gold at a gold shop in Chang Moi yesterday, Aug. 19.

The attempted fraud took place at he Thong Tak Seng Hong gold shop on Chang Moi Road.

According to reports the man, Mr. Chai Kham Ong. 35 presented what he claimed was a 34.4-gram gold necklace to staff in an attempt to sell it however staff were suspicious. A subsequent test of the gold found it to be a “gold colored metal object” and not actual gold.

Mr. Ong was arrested by Mueang Chiang Mai Police and charged with trying to defraud property. He was detained in custody pending a court hearing.
