Newborn baby found abandoned in Chiang Mai police toilet

A abandoned newborn baby girl was discovered in a toilet in Mueang Chiang Mai Police Station early this morning, Feb. 25.

The newborn was discovered by a cleaner who heard the child crying in the station on Rachadamnoen Rd, Phra Singh at 1:45 a.m.

Police, unsurprisingly, were quick to the scene with emergency services workers not far behind.

The girl, described as being between eight to nine months developed with the umbilical cord still attached, was physically in the toilet with blood at the scene indicating that the mother had given birth on the toilet itself.

It’s estimated that the child may have been there around one hour before being discovered.

The girl was subsequently rushed to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital and was described as being in a “rather worrisome condition” due to low body temperature.

Police are studying their own CCTV in an attempt to identify the mother.
