One person has died after a Chiang Mai-registered truck ran into a Chiang Mai-registered pickup truck in Mae Hong Son yesterday, Nov. 19.
The accident occurred on Chiang Mai – Mae Sariang Road (Highway 108) in Ban Lai Nuea, Pa Pong, Sop Moei District between the 165 and 166-kilometer markers.
The driver of the truck, Mr. Wittaya Puttirachon, 22 from Sop Moei said that he had been following the pickup truck down a hill and had gone to overtake it when the pickup truck turned into his path.
The deceased driver, Mr. Manop Patananamongkol, 36 from Mae Fah was not wearing a seat belt, a contributing factor in his death as he was flung halfway out of the pickup truck feet first.
Police are said to be investigating.
