One man has died after a 10-wheel truck struck a motorcyclist in a hit and run in San Sai this afternoon, July 10.
The accident in Moo 8 Nong Chom at 12:30 p.m. saw the truck strike a motorcycle being driven by Mr. Kamon Rongthong, 67 along Chiang Mai-Mae Jo Road city bound. According to witness reports, the 10-wheel truck was attempting to overtaking the motorcycle at high speed but instead of clearing the bike, hit it instead, causing the deceased to go flying.
The truck is said to have made no attempt to stop and continued driving with unfortunately no witnesses recording the number plate of the truck.
Police are continuing their investigation, including obtaining CCTV footage from around and near the scene and said that should they locate the driver of the truck they intended to prosecute him over the matter.
