One person has died and two people were seriously injured following a head-on collision between a Hilux and Mitsubishi Mirage in San Pa Tong yesterday, Sept. 23.
The accident occurred on Chiang Mai – Chom Thong Road Road (Highway 108) in Ban Klang just after 5 p.m.
It’s not entire clear how the accident occurred as the section of the highway is divided and hence it was meant to be one-way traffic on the side of the road the accident occurred. Given pictures from the scene it would appear that the Hilux, which was configured as a school bus, was on the wrong side of the road heading into oncoming traffic.
The deceased man was named as Mr. Somsak Chaimrom, 40 from Chom Thong who was in the passenger seat of the Hilux. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
The driver of the Hilux, Mr. Thawatchai Promyano, 28 from Chom Thong along with the driver of the Mitshubishi Mirage, Miss Thanyalak Wongwiriya, 30 from Lamphun were rushed to San Pa Tong Hospital.
