Coronavirus – pfft. 800,000+ people treated last year due to smog in the north – old news as the Chiang Mai Provincial Health Office has launched an urgent investigation into footage shared online of a man drinking beer at a Chiang Mai hospital.
The footage shows a large Thai man, probably in his early to mid 20s consuming a large bottle Chang at an unnamed Chiang Mai Hospital.
Mrs. Patchara Kan Kongthawiphan, Head of Non-communicable Disease Control Group, Mental health and Drugs at the Chiang Mai Provincial Health Office told Guru Chiang Mai that the department had received a report about the clip.
She went on to note that the hospital wasn’t involved in the illicit beer consumption and that it involved a friend of a patient. Consumption of alcohol in a hospital is illegal in Thailand with a fine of up to 10,000 baht and/or upto six months in prison.
The video is also being investigated by police with Major Pichet Chiranantasin, Chiang Mai Provincial Police Commander saying that the act was clearly illegal at that police had been deployed to locate the offender and pursue legal charges.
