A crowd of over 10,000 people gathered at the Thapae Gate in Si Phum last night, Oct. 13 to remember the passing of His Majesty, King Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, Rama IX three years ago.
The new Governor of Chiang Mai, Mr. Charoenrit Sanguansat led the commemoration and was joined by representatives of foreign consulates, the Royal Thai Army, police, government agencies, local administrative organizations and state agencies along with members of public who had come to pay their respects.
The crowd heard of the 627 projects His Majesty had given to Chiang Mai including 26 Royal Projects and the construction of Chiang Mai’s two major dams – Mae Ngad Somboonchon Dam and the Mae Kuang Udom Thara Dam.
His Majesty was also remembers for helping restore degraded forests in the north through the work of the Huai Hong Khrai Royal Development Study Center.
