Over 30 Burmese nationals, along with the ring leaders of foreign labor smuggling group have been arrested in Doi Saket.
The workers were said to have been smuggled into the country to work as farm laborers and in domestic positions and included men, women and children.
The arrests occurred yesterday, Jan. 31 in Moo 1 Luang Nuea with the workers said to have been traveling in several vehicles.
The two ring leaders – named as Mr. Worawut Tae-maeng, 29 from Wiang Pa Pao District and Mr. Praket Phetchan Awak, 47 from Mae Hong Son, are alleged to have been between paid between 5,000 and 10,000 baht per person to illegally bring in and place the workers in various jobs.
Along with the arrests, police also seized the vehicles being used to transport the workers.
The workers will be prosecuted before being deported from the Kingdom.
