Two poachers have been injured in a shoot out with rangers in a national park in Phrao yesterday, April 7.
The shoot out occurred in Sri Lanna National Park, specifically the Mae Chao Mae Nam – Huai Rua forest in Moo 1 Mae Pang.
Rangers were on patrol for forest fires when they spotted one not far away.
On approach to the fire, they found two men setting illegal traps to capture animals within the national park.
When it was demanded that they surrender the poachers instead opened fire.
The shoot out itself only last five minutes with the poachers – Mr. Yosapha to La, 35 and Mr. I Kham Khamporn, 25 suffering leg and arm injuries.
Along with arresting the two men, the rangers also seized two weapons with ammunition, two knives, a “cylinder,” three books, three lighters, one headlight, one torch and one motorcycle.
The pair were charged with multiple offenses including illegal hunting, illegal firearms and attacking the rangers.
