Yesterday, Police inspected the Krystal Club and Emerald Club in the Thong Lor area of Bangkok, seen as being the epicentre of the country’s latest wave of COVID-19 infections.
About 50 officers inspected the entertainment venues, accompanied by one of Emerald Club’s executives and Palang Pracharath MP Korranit Ngamsukonratana.
At least 18 Thong Lor officers have been infected with COVID-19, all of whom were responsible for patrolling public areas.
The officer in charge of yesterday’s inspection, Metropolitan Police Division 5 commander Pol Maj Gen Sophon Sarapat, declined to talk to the media.
However, Ms Ngamsukonratana said officers had seized the security cameras’ servers after the club executive said the footage would only be visible for one day.
The clubs’ licences are also being checked and legal action will follow if any rules have been broken.
This appears likely because the Emerald Club is located near a school, which the MP said was against the law.
Bangkok South Kwaeng Court jailed the managers of both venues for two months last Saturday after finding them guilty of violating the government’s state of emergency and the Entertainment Places Act.
