A man chasing a vehicle with a samurai sword has died after losing control near the Saraphi/Lamphun provincial border early this morning, July 16.
The deceased was not immediately identified as he was lacking ID (but not a sword) but was subsequently identified as Mr. Kang Kai Suk 20 from Mae Tha District, Lamphun based on the registration of the Honda Wave 125 he was driving.
CCTV footage caught Mr. Suk chasing a vehicle southbound on Chiang Mai – Lamphun Road with the sword before he lost control, hitting a roadside sign and dying on impact.
According to reports, teenagers are known to chase each other along the road at night although the reasons why are not specified. Disputes are known to occur between younger people in Thailand over a number of issues such as school rivalry, drugs and disputes over women.
Police are said to be investigating the matter including attempting to locate the driver of the vehicle Mr. Suk was chasing.
