Small earthquake rattles Chai Prakan after series earlier in the week

A small earthquake has rattled Chai Prakan this morning after a series of small shakes across the north earlier in the week.

The earthquake today registered at 2.0 and struck at 4:13 a.m. at 19.70N 99.14E – Moo 9 Si Dong Yen, not far from Chai Prakan Hospital.

Earlier in the week earthquakes were registered in both Phrao and Mae Lo District, Chiang Rai.

The Phrao quake – 1.9 struck at 10:59 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 at 19.53N 99.24E, a remote location on a Mae Ngat River in Phrao’s Tambon San Sai (not San Sai District further south), while the quake that rattled Mae Lo, Chiang Rai registered at 2.4 and struck at 9:52 a.m. Monday at 19.80N 99.68E in Tambon Pong Phrae.

Notably, all three quakes occurred along the Phayao faultline.
