Soldier injured in shootout with drug runners in Chiang Dao

A Royal Thai Army soldier has been hospitalized after being injured during a shootout with drug runners in Chiang Dao yesterday, Feb. 2.

Army soldiers, acting on a tip-off set an ambush in Pa Bong Ngam, Muang Na waiting for the drug runners when they eventually appeared.

A shootout took place with a solider being shot with an unknown weapon. All of the drug runners managed to flee the scene, leaving an unspecified amount of drugs (two sacks) at the scene.

The solider, Officer Arthit Keng Kham was transported to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital.

Given the shootout, the army has deployed reinforcements to the area in an attempt to located and disable the drug runners involved in the shooting.
