South Korean woman killed while crossing road outside of Chom Thong wat

A South Korean woman has died after she was hit by a car while crossing the road outside a wat Chom Thong yesterday, Jan. 8.

The accident occurred outside of Wat Phutthanimt on Chiang Mai – Hot Road (Highway 108) in Moo 6 Sop Tia at around 7:30 p.m.

The deceased, known as Hamancho, 71 had been attending the wat to practice dharma. She was crossing the road with a friend when she was struck by a Honda City with Chiang Mai registration ขล 8357.

The driver fled the scene with the car later found by police at Wat Wang Nam Yat in Mae Soi, Chong Thong at around 9:50 p.m. The driver is said to have since contacted police but it’s not clear whether he has been arrested or not.
