Summer storms damage homes in Mae Ai and Chiang Rai

Summer storms across the north yesterday, April 13 saw homes damaged in Mae Ai, Chiang Mai and parts of Chiang Rai.

In the north of Chiang Mai Province, storms were reported in tambons Mae Sao, San Tom and Mae Na Wang in Mae Ai at around 6 p.m. There were fortunately no deaths or injuries but widespread power outages.

Several homes lost their roofs with trees also coming down during the storm.

Across the border in Chiang Rai storms struck several tambons across Mueang Chiang Rai. Damage also included a high voltage power line coming down on Phahonyothin Road (Highway 1) near Wat Rong Khun.

According to the Chiang Rai Times, officials said there were storms reported in nine districts, 19 tambons and 50 villages across the province. Damage assessments were underway.  There were also reports of hail in some areas.
