Thai Smile to start flying from CNX to Kaohsiung, Taiwan from January

Thai Smile is set to be the first airline to fly between Chiang Mai International Airport and Kaohsiung in Taiwan with the airline filing a preliminary schedule for the service Sept. 8.

The service is scheduled to start January 15 and will run for four times weekly. WE672/TG2672 leaves Chiang Mai at 12:40 p.m., landing at Kaohsiung International Airport at 5:30 p.m. local time. The return flight – WE673/TG2673 leaves KHH at 6:30 p.m. local time, landing in Chiang Mai at 9:30 p.m.

The days of the flights are not yet known. The route will be flown by an Airbus A320-200.

Kaohsiung is the second largest metropolitan area in Taiwan and is located on its southern coast.

The service is the first international service to be provided by Thai Smile or parent Thai Airways out of Chiang Mai Airport. While various airlines have embraced Chiang Mai Airport as a gateway to Thailand the government-owned airline has nearly completely ignored the opportunities provided by Chiang Mai until now.
