Three dead after riding into Chiang Mai tour bus in Sing Buri

Two people have died after riding into a parked Chiang Mai tour bus in Sing Buri, north of Bangkok last night, Aug. 12.

The accident happened on Ayutthaya – Nakon Sawan Road (Highway 32) between the 97 and 98-kilometer markers in Mueang Sing Buri at around 10 p.m.

The bus driver,  Mr. Anan Uppakun, 65 said he had parked the bus, owned by Sombat Tours Chiang Mai, at the side of the road for a rest break. When he returned to the bus he found the bike with its three passengers had rammed into the back.

Two of those on the motorcycle –  Mr. Peerapat Kanchah, 19 and Mr. Wongsathorn Merumas, 20 died on impact while a third passenger, Miss. Pattika Maneerum, 20 died later in hospital. All three were local to Sing Buri.

Police are said to be investigating, however, footage from the scene shows that all the lights on the bus were turned on at the time of accident meaning that the motorcycle should have seen the bus before the accident.
