A tourist has been taken to hospital after falling from the Wang Bua Ban Waterfall in Suthep yesterday afternoon, Oct. 17.
Emergency services workers including staff from Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, Suthep Rescue Unit and Chiang Mai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office were quick to the scene at around 5:45 p.m. to offer assistance.
According to reports, the tourist, Mr. Sasiwong Aiy, 15, fell while climbing the waterfall, injuring both his chin and left arm. He was taken to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital for treatment.
Recent rain is being blamed for the accident with authorities noting that extra water has caused the water flow to become “quite strong” and hence more hazardous for those climbing the waterfall.
