Two men have been arrested after they were caught burning refuse at an orange orchard in Mae Ai yesterday, April 4.
The arrests took place in Moo 8 Tha Ton at around 5:30 p.m.
The two men arrested, Mr. Tuyan Joe Tae, 23 and Mr. Tan Sin Huat, 31 were spotted burning orange branches and leaf debris by officers from Tha Ton Subdistrict patrolling for illegal fires.
The pair subsequently confessed, saying that they were aware of the fire ban but wanted to destroy the debris anyway and more particularly “did not think that they would be arrested by the authorities.”
The two men were charged with “burn or act in any way, causing smoke or anything else that may cause health hazards during the ban on burning 61 days from 1 March 2019 – 30 April 2019.”
