Two members of the Lahu (Muser) hill tribe were arrested as they caught smuggling both yaba and heroin in Chiang Dao yesterday, Sept. 2.
The two were arrested in a cornfield in Baan Chia Chan, Moo 13 Mueang Na near the Nong Khaiw Royal Project restaurant.
The pair, Mrs. Nassa Chee, 60 and Mr. Kanit Chafa, 22 were caught with 100,000 yaba tablets and 12 bags of heroin weighing 4.42 kilograms.
The raid took place after police received a tip-off that Lahu hill tribe members were smuggling drugs in the area.
The pair has been charged with possession and distribution of a class 1 drug illegally. They remain in custody at the Nawai Police Station in Mueang Na pending a court hearing.
