Two dead as pickup truck hits tree in Lamphun

Two people have died after the pickup truck they were in hit a tree in Lamphun yesterday, Dec. 1.

The accident happened on Chiang Mai – Lampang Road (Highway 11) through the Lamphun Industrial Estate in Si Bua Ban, Mueang Lamphun at around 4:25 p.m.

The two deceased, Mr. Yuth Yod Khamluang, 53 and Mr. Wong Sunthorn Bunpeng, 24 were both from Doi Saket.

Two other people injured – Mr. Suphan Poonboon, 47 and Mrs. Sumalee Yot Khamthao, 42 were taken to hospital.

The cause of the crash is unknown with police investigating.

In a bizarre coincidence while emergency services workers were tending to that accident a second accident involving a tree occurred on the same road. In that case, a brand new Mitsubishi Triton driven by Mr. Wanlop Rodboon, 47 stuck another vehicle before hitting a tree in the middle of the highway. Fortunately, the injuries were described as being minor.
