The sole victim of a boarding house fire at a school in Fang July 17 is reported to have died trying to save other students according to a new report.
The deceased female student named only as Somsak, 15 is claimed by Ms. Pennapa. Apsak Yemen, the headmaster and the dormitory supervisor at the Christian Paolo School run by the Evangelical Fellowship of Thailand in Ban Nong Yai, Mae Suen District to have been the first to alert others to the fire.
“When we realized who the missing person, everyone was shocked,” Ms. Yemen said in an interview. “Somsak was the first to see the fire and alert everyone so they could escape from the building.”
In attempting to save overs, Somsak is believed to have been overcome with smoke inhalation resulting in her unfortunate death later by fire.
The fire itself has officially been blamed on a short circuit in the switch in the room number 7 of the building with sparks from the circuit catching a clothes basket alight causing the fire to rapidly spread.
