The long, dry and seemingly never-ending hot season this year has claimed more victims with three villages (moos) in San Kamphaeng having run out of water.
The three moos are Moo 1, 2 and 3 in Tambon San Kamphaeng, San Kamphaeng District.
The moos started running out of water three days ago with the Chiang Mai Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation deploying water trucks to fill up water towers in the various moos.
According to reports, the moos aren’t on town water from Chiang Mai with their tap water coming from underground reservoirs. Those reservoirs are said to have run dry.
The water crisis, baring serious rain soon, may be set to spread with the other 11 moos in Tambon San Kamphaeng said to be close to running out of water as well.
A village in Omkoi was the first to lose water in Chiang Mai Province this hot season earlier this week.
