A woman has been charged today by Phuping Police in relation to her role in an accident that caused the death of two people on Canal Road, Suthep Jan. 2.
The accident, which saw the death of celebrity stylist Chaturaphat Khemnak, 28 and MC Jenny Panan, was caused when a Black Toyota Vios, driving up the right-hand lane, plowed into a Honda CRV being driven by the victims that was turning right.
The CRV ended up in the khlong upside down with both drowning before they could escape.
The driver of the Vios, Ms. Wichitra Pukboonruang, 26, has been charged with negligent driving causing death, negligent driving causing damage to property and a charge under the Traffic Act of driving the wrong way on a public road.
While the charges have been filed, as of 2 p.m., Jan. 4, Ms. Pukboonruang is reported to be in hospital after she had admitted herself earlier in the day due to stress.
Police are said to be waiting for her to be released from hospital until processing her formally on the charges.
