One of Chiang Mai’s best-known hotels, the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel in Chang Klan is changing management and will become an InterContinental Hotel post renovation.
The hotel, which opened in 1998, closed midway through last year for renovations that were initially expected to be finished in December this year. The renovation at the time was said to focus on rooms, meeting facilities and public areas such as the lobby, bars and restaurants.
A revised timetable for the renovations now sees the hotel reopening in 2021 with all work at the property finishing in 2022. Upon completion, the hotel will offer 3,600 square meters of outdoor and indoor convention, event and meeting spaces.
With the InterContinental Hotels Group taking over the management of the hotel, the hotel will become the InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping.
“With our shared vision of elevating the hospitality sector in Thailand and thus building a better future for the country’s economy, we are confident that the InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping will be one of the many projects to set the benchmark in Thailand., ”Wallapa Traisorat, chief executive officer and president of AWC said in a statement.
