Investigation launched into illegal 7 rai Mae On grass fire

Mae On District has launched an investigation into who was behind a grass fire that burned 7 rai of land on Jan. 11.

The fire was started on the block of land in Mae Len, Moo 2 On Klang with Mr. Suthep Saenamongkol, Mae On District Chief announcing the formal investigation today.

According to reports, the Mae On District Sheriff has been put to the task with the District confident they can find the person who started the fire. The fire, itself, is believed to have been lit to burn weeds and grass on a fairly small block of land.

Giving a potential hint, the fire itself was strictly within the 7 rai block, not even jumping fences. Either it was a strictly controlled burn by the owner, a controlled burn by arsonists who didn’t want the fire to spread or perhaps magical Thai fire ghosts now stop fires at boundary fences.

The District Chief noted that the fire breached the fire ban imposed by Chiang Mai Governor Mr. Charoenrit Sanguansat Jan. 10.
