Isan man arrested outside Thapae Gate McDonalds on burglary charge

A man from Roi Et in the Isan region was arrested this morning (Aug. 2) outside McDonalds at the Thapae Gate on a burglary charge.

The 34-year-old man, named by Thai media as Mr. Goppol Saengthong, was wanted over a burglary at a female dormitory on Jhaban Road, Si Phum June 29.

Mr. Saengthong was caught on camera snooping around the building then entering a room where a female nurse was sleeping. The unnamed victim woke and saw Mr. Saengthong going through her belongings, causing him to flee the scene.

CCTV caught all the action including Mr. Seangthong riding away from the scene on a motorcycle with Chiang Mai plates registered in his name.

Described by local media as a “cat burglar,” Mr. Seangthong has been retained in custody pending a court appearance.
