Man arrested for theft from Chang Phueak hotel

Police have arrested a man who broke into a hotel in Chang Phueak mid-December who is also a suspect in other hotel break-ins.

Mr. Preecha, 31 was arrested at a house on Moo-Anuwit Road, Tha Sala yesterday, Dec. 22 on a warrant issued Dec. 20 on an accusation of “trespassing a house at night.”

Police seized a number of items including clothing the accused is alleged to have been wearing during the burglary, a bag used to conceal property stolen and a Honda Wave motorcycle used to travel to and from the scene of the burglary.

Mr. Preech was accused of stealing 2,000 baht from a room at the Baan Suan Lanna Villa and is also a suspect in 21 other burglaries in the Chiang Mai metropolitan area. Nearly all of the burglaries are said to have involved foreigners being targeted.

Police claim that he primarily stole cash to pay for his drug and gambling addictions. He been detained in custody pending a court hearing and further charges being laid.
