Man pissing on power pole struck, killed by car driven by drunk in San Sai

A man has died after being struck by a car driven by a drunk man while pissing against a power pole in San Sai last night, March 3.

The accident occurred on Chiang Mai – Doi Saket Road (Highway 118) near the Ban Bo Hin pedestrian bridge in San Na Maeng at around 10:30 p.m.

The victim, Mr. Sawang Paekham, 68 had been visiting a relative who as opening a grocery shop near the pedestrian bridge when he stepped outside to urinate on a nearby power pole.

While doing his business, he was struck by an out-of-control sedan being driven at high speed.

The driver of the vehicle has not as yet been named but is described as being around 30 and “heavily intoxicated” at the time of the accident.

The driver was arrested by Doi Saket police and will be facing multiple charges in relation to the “accident.”
