One man has died and another 12 people injured in a bus crash in Tak Province late Friday night.
The bus, which was carrying migrant workers – Myanmar nationals, was traveling to Bangkok from the Mae Sot border crossing on Highway 12 in Doi Ruak, Mueang District when the accident occurred at around 11:20 p.m.
According to Thai language reports, the bus was heading down a mountainous part of the road at speed when it lost control on a corner. The driver of the bus said that he had tried to use the brakes on the bus but they were not enough to bring the bus under control.
Of those injured, five were said to be female and the rest male.
Police are investigating the accident and the driver may be charged given that speeding and poor driving was a factor in the crash.
