Nearly 15 million yaba tablets seized at Chiang Rai checkpoint

Two men have been arrested after being caught transporting nearly 15 million tablets of yaba at a checkpoint at Moo 4, Mae Yen district, Chiang Rai.

Mr. Kiti Yutin Mangala, 26 from Sam Chuk District, Suphanburi Province and Mr. Pratham Mangkala, 43 from Pho Thale District, Phichit Province were found transporting 7,483 bundles totaling 14,936,000 tablets in a Chiang Rai-registered pickup truck.

According to reports, the pair had been paid 100,000 baht to transport the drugs to central Thailand where they would further be distributed so as to meet demand during the forthcoming World Cup.
