Two Chinese men have been arrested at a house in Mae Sai for overstaying their visas.
Mr. Zhao Shan, 46, and Ms. Zhuaian, 46, told police they were waiting for friends to arrive from Singapore to arrive, however, police were not convinced by the story.
According to reports, there have been a number of Chinese nationals found recently Mae Sai, Mae Fah Luang and other border districts in Chiang Rai behaving in what police call a “curious manner.”
Although the police found no drugs with the arrested men, the area is notoriously located in the heart of the Golden Triangle, a major center of the drug trade in Southeast Asia.
