One dead as big bike crashes into signpost in Lampang

A man has died after losing control of and crashing his big bike off a road in Lampang yesterday, July 21.

The accident happened on Phahonyothin Road (Highway 1) between the 631 and 632-kilometer markers in Mae Thot, Thoen District at around 11 a.m.

The motorcycle rider, Mr. Adithep Promjit, 31 from Lopburi had been visiting the north with a friend on another bike and was heading home down Highway 1 on his Yamaha XT1200Z Super Ténéré when the accident happened.

According to the friend, Mr. Promjit was rounding a bend when he lost control and crashed into a signpost at the side of the road. Promjit did not die at the scene but later in Thoen Hospital.

Local police are said to be investigating.
