One dead in multi-vehicle pileup on Superhighway in Chang Phueak

One person has died and a number of people were injured following a multi-vehicle pileup on the Superhighway in Chang Phueak yesterday, Aug. 8.

The accident, near the Chontana/ Mae Rim Road (Highway 107) underpass involved three cars and a motorcycle with the motorcycle rider, identified only as a 30-year-old womon on a red Honda Wave, dying at the scene.

What exactly occurred isn’t clear with one report suggesting that there had been an earlier accident between two of the vehicles and the motorcycle with minor damage in the lead up to the underpass.

Shortly after it’s claimed that the third vehicle, a black Bangkok-registered vehicle being driven by a man at high speed, plowed into the scene of the earlier accident killing the woman and injuring others.

Chang Phueak Police are seeking any witnesses to come forward given the circumstances of the two-stage accident.
