2019 saw a big change in the rugby calendar with the first ever Lanna Rugby Tens League being played between four of the Chiang Mai Based teams; Chiang Mai All Stars, Chiang Mai University, Lanna Rugby Club and Prince’s Royal College. The Chiang Mai All stars were the victors after a month of fixtures week in week out. (Below shows the winners of the league being presented the trophy and a few pictures of the final match.)
LOOKING FORWARD
We have a lot to look forward to in the 2020/21 rugby union season in the north. Chiang Rai Bears and Lanna Rugby Club are both developing grassroots starting at 5 years for both boys and girls. Chiang Mai AllStars are continuously recruiting to bolster their team of Allstars! The Lanna Rugby Tens League is being developed, hopefully starting around August / September 2020. As well as the regular rugby tournaments; Prince’s 7’s Cup, Bangkok 10’s, Phuket 10’s to name but a few, that shall be played throughout the season.
