Seismic activity continues with San Sai hit with a 2.6 earthquake

Seismic activity in the north has continued overnight with earthquakes recorded in both San Sai and Phan, Chiang Rai in the last 24 hours.

The San Sai quake was 2.6 on the Richter scale and struck at 6:06 a.m. this morning, Jan. 29 at 18.92 N 99.07 E – Tambon Pa Phai not far from the Mae Kuang Dam.

The Chiang Rai earthquake, registering at 1.7 struck at 11:05 p.m. yesterday, Jan. 28 at 19.71 N 99.7 E – Than Thong, Phan District not far from Phahonyothin Road (Highway 1).

The San Sai earthquake follows a 3.2 on Jan. 22 which was followed by a warning from the Earthquake Surveillance Division of the Thai Meteorological Department that more earthquakes were likely.
